Linda Cunningham

In her 30-year newspaper career, Ms. Cunningham has worked as a reporter, copy editor, wire editor, editorial page editor and assistant managing editor at newspapers in Virginia and New Jersey. In 1981 she was named executive editor of The Hudson Dispatch and The Paterson News. In 1982 she was named executive editor and vice president of news at the Trenton (NJ) Times, a position she held until 1988 when she joined the Morris County (NJ) Daily Record. She served as executive editor of The Daily Record prior to being named executive editor of the Rockford (IL) Register Star in 1991.

Ms. Cunningham has participated as a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and as chairman of ASNE's Human Resources Committee. She has served as a judge on the ASNE Distinguished Writing Awards board and as a Pulitzer Prize judge. She was named Illinois Journalist of the year in 1999 and was named to the Marshall University Journalism Hall of Fame in 2002. Ms. Cunningham attended an API seminar for Executive Editors and Managing Editors in 1980.
