Mark Mulholland
Associate Director, American Press Institute

As API associate director, Mr. Mulholland develops and conducts training seminars for newspaper professionals, primarily focusing on executive development and leadership programs.  Before joining the API in 2005, he held advertising management positions at the Roanoke (Virginia) Times, the Greensboro (North Carolina) News & Record, and the Jackson (Mississippi) Clarion-Ledger.  He served as marketing director for The Chicago Sun-Times, the Victoria (Texas) Advocate, and as corporate marketing director for Lee Enterprises in Davenport, Iowa.  He also spent two years in television, as vice president of marketing for WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida.

A native of Huntington, West Virginia, Mr. Mulholland holds a BA in journalism/advertising from Marshall University and attended graduate school at Virginia Tech.  He has served on the board of the International Newspaper Marketing Association and as its southern region president, and has been an active long-time member of numerous Newspaper Association of America federations.  He is an authorized trainer/facilitator for professional development programs including Professional Selling Skills®, Continuous Improvement®, and Disruptive Innovation®.

Mr. Mulholland  has attended four API seminars: Promoting the Daily Newspaper (1982), Advertising Executives-Metro (1984), Executive Marketing (1988), and Executive Development Program (2005).
